First and Second update on our letter to CIC Minister for citizenship app.

Hey folks,

Here is the first feedback from our West-Nepean M.P., for our complain letter to CIC Minister Mr. Coderre, at the beginning of this month. Being aware of this citizenship application delay in Ottawa, our M.P. will discuss this issue with the Minister:

Thank you for sending me a copy of your letter to the Honourable Denis Coderre, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration. I regret the delay in response.

my office is aware of the lengthy delays being experienced in citizenship applications, but I was not aware that the same delays are not occuring in other cities.

I appreciate the information you have provided and will be sure to discuss this issue with the Minister.

Second update: Letter from Mauril Belanger, MP, Ottawa-Vanier

I got a copy of our MP Mauril's letter to CIC Minister, asking him to assign one of his senior officers to look into this matter. Hope we'll get some feedback in the near future.

Dear Minister,

I am wring to you today to obtain information on the issue of landed immigrants that are applying for Canadian citizenship.

I have received a copy of a letter of last September 28th, addressed to you, concerning citizenship application delays in Ottawa. I have enclosed a copy for your perusal. This letter, signed by many applicants, stresses that, in Ottawa, applicants face delays on average 12 to 15 months, while in the regions of Toronto and Montreal, citizenship applications are being processed in an average of just 6 to 8 months.

I would appreciate if you would ask one of your senior officers to look into this matter and clarify if this is tryly the situation for the Ottawa area. If so, is it poosible to hire more personnel to process the applications in a more timely manner?

I thank you in advance for the attention you will give my request and look forward to your response in the near future.

Received response from IMM

I took the test on June 5, just received response from them and they said "Form5401E2 is requested". I checked the website, this is the fees payment, but I have already paid when I submitted my application. Does anybody know what wrong is ? thanks

Fees Receipt is IMM5401, are you sure it's the same form as 5401E2 they are asking for? Did the letter expain why? How much did you pay at the first time? It should be $200 including $100 non-refundable processing fee and $100 refundable Right of Citizenship Fee.

I also took the test on June 5, but no further response has been received so far. You are probably the only one who has received response from CIC in the batch of June 5. Try this nubmer 1-888-242-2100 to find out the reason, it's very difficult to get the line through, you have to be very patient.

They did not explain in the letter,just two payment paper and another packing slip.

well, that's really weird. I hope you are still keeping the Receipt (copy 1 - Client's copy) of your 1st fee payment. You can visit Imm personally at 200 Catherine St. and remember to take the receipt and this letter with you.

Finally, the line was got through. They said this is a mistake, because If i did not pay full amount, they will not process my application. Anyway, I still have to go to imm to make sure.

Yeah, it should be a mistake. But the call center may not have the most updated information on hand, you'd better talk with Ottawa office people face to face and ask them to make the correction immediatly.
