Beginning Saturday, volunteers of all abilities, age 12 and over, are urgently needed over the next two weeks for sandbag and debris removal at flood-affected properties in West Carleton, Bay and Cumberland.
Work will take place between 9 am and 7 pm on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday June 2.
If you are able to help, please report to one of these Volunteer Registration Centres.
Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2
Organized groups who want to volunteer should call 3-1-1 ahead of time so we can help coordinate your efforts.
Information for volunteers:
Volunteers will be supplied with gloves and may be required to lift up to 20 kg. Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing with long sleeves, pants and boots is recommended. Clothing may get dirty, wet or damaged. Volunteers may bring food; water and snacks will be provided.
To save time, print and complete your waiver form in advance and bring it with you to the Volunteer Registration Centre. Volunteers under 18 need a parent or legal guardian to sign their registration forms and must be supervised by an adult on site.
Updates about the daily need for volunteers will be made through the City’s website, ottawa.ca, and the City’s social media channels on Twitter and Facebook. You do not need to have a Twitter or Facebook account to access these pages. Please monitor these channels for updates.
