Traffic impacts in Ottawa for the coming days – beginning Thursday, August 1

Upcoming events and projects will have the following impacts on Ottawa traffic:

Carling Avenue on-ramp to Highway 417 eastbound On Saturday, August 10, the Carling Avenue on-ramp to Highway 417 eastbound will be closed for seven weeks to rehabilitate the Merivale Road bridge and to build a retaining wall. Vehicles will be detoured via Carling Avenue to the Maitland Avenue on-ramp to Highway 417 eastbound.

Elgin Street –The Somerset Street crossing at Elgin remains closed for up to 9 weeks for underground utility work and intersection reconstruction. While closed, Cooper Street is open to route eastbound traffic and MacLaren Street is open to route westbound traffic across Elgin. In addition, the Gladstone Avenue crossing at Elgin reopened on Tuesday, July 30. Visit ottawa.ca for additional information and detour maps.

Highway 417 between Moodie Drive and Pinecrest Road – There will be intermittent lane closures on Highway 417 between Moodie Drive and Pinecrest Road until November to pave the road and to add noise barriers. Closures will take place on weeknights, from 9 pm to 6 am.

Highway 417 between Bronson Avenue and Carling Avenue – From Saturday, August 10 at 6 pm to Sunday, August 11 at 11 am, Highway 417 will be fully closed from Bronson Avenue to Carling Avenue for rehabilitation and widening. Vehicles will be detoured via Carling Avenue. There will be lane closures and delays on Highway 417 from Friday, August 9 at 9 pm to Monday, August 12 at 6 am. Hog’s Back Bridge – From Monday, August 12 until May 2020, the Hog’s Back Bridge will be closed to vehicles so the National Capital Commission can rehabilitate the bridge. Vehicles will be detoured along Riverside Drive, the Heron Road Bridge and Prince of Wales Drive. Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to access the bridge during construction. Colonel By Drive and the Rideau Canal will remain open.

Greenbank Road From Tuesday, August 6 until the end of October, there will be intermittent lane closures on Greenbank Road between Fallowfield Road and West Hunt Club Road to replace the asphalt and to improve safety. One lane in each direction will be open during peak hours.
