“We’re booming in Kanata-Carleton and now we have to put the infrastructure in place to serve the people of this community — that’s my No. 1 priority right now,” McCrimmon said in an interview. “Serving the people of Kanata-Carleton has been the privilege of a lifetime and I’m just going to do it some more.”
“On the campaign trail, McCrimmon, a retired military officer, energetically defended her record and that of the Liberal government while making dire predictions about what a Conservative government would mean for Ottawa.
The Conservatives’ platform and its $53 million in cuts to federal spending over five years would devastate the National Capital Region, McCrimmon said. It would lead to heavy job losses in Ottawa, she said, and threaten the extension of light rail service to Kanata.
“Why is that Conservatives always campaign saying they’re ‘for the people’ — then cut taxes for the wealthy and cut services for everybody else?” she asked.”
