#ottmusic relaunched today and has grown to include three music initiatives: the OC Transpo Busking Program, City Sounds and Music on Hold.
Following Council’s approval of a new Ottawa Music Strategy, the City is expanding #ottmusic to include the OC Transpo Busking Program. Musical performers can use one simple form to apply for any of the three #ottmusic opportunities. Local musicians can apply until Friday, March 27 to have their music played for residents on hold with 3-1-1, to have their songs considered for playlists and to busk at O-Train Line 1 stations.
The OC Transpo Busking Program is a new initiative that will bring local musical entertainment, vibrancy and a sense of community to O-Train Line 1 stations. Once approved by a selection committee, acts will be able to sign up for performance times at Line 1 stations starting in Spring 2020.
Also new this year, we’ll create playlists of #ottmusic submissions for streaming through Soundcloud and on ottawa.ca. Called City Sounds, these playlists will be your soundtrack for moving around Ottawa or just relaxing somewhere cozy. This new initiative is a response to the popularity of the #ottmusic program and the quality of previous submissions. All area performers are encouraged to participate. Let’s show off Ottawa’s music muscle!
Finally, you will still be able to apply for the Music on Hold program, which is heading into its fifth year. This initiative offers a far-reaching platform for local musicians to introduce and share their music with a wider audience. Selected songs will be added to the City’s phone system, giving residents the chance to hear great local music when they are on hold with 3-1-1.
For more information on City programs and services, visit ottawa.ca or call 3-1-1 (TTY: 613-580-2401). You can also connect with us through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
