City Council today approved the following Councillors to fill vacancies on City committees and boards:

  • Innes Ward Councillor Laura Dudas as the Vice Chair of the Finance and Economic Development Committee
  • Stittsville Ward Councillor Glen Gower as a member-at-large of the Finance and Economic Development Committee and the Vice Chair of the Planning Committee
  • Orléans Ward Councillor Matthew Luloff is recommended as the Chair of the Ottawa Public Library Board
  • Osgoode Ward Councillor George Darouze as a member of the Shaw Centre Board of Directors
  • Rideau-Rockcliffe Ward Councillor Rawlson King as the Chair of the Built Heritage Sub-Committee

Council approved delegating authority to the Director of Housing Services to sign an agreement with the Government of Ontario that identifies priority groups who will receive the $4.38 million Canada-Ontario Housing Benefit over the next two years. This benefit will help vulnerable households, including survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking, and people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, with rental costs. Priority consideration will be given to Indigenous women.

New funding policies for Community Funding will take effect next January. They include three new funding streams: five-year operational and program funding, funding for projects and neighbourhood events, and short-term, one-time funding to address emerging community needs and unforeseen organizational needs.

Council declared that Saturday, June 6, 2020 will be National Health and Fitness Day in Ottawa. The City will offer two-for-one admission on that day to public swimming facilities and to weight and cardio rooms.
