Traffic impacts in Ottawa for the coming days – beginning Thursday, March 12

The following projects will impact Ottawa traffic:

Bronson Avenue – One lane in each direction on Bronson Avenue between Colonel By Drive and Fifth Avenue will close from Friday, March 13 at 7 pm until Sunday, March 15 at 10 pm to create a new transit lane.

Highway 174 – Expect intermittent lane and ramp closures during off-peak hours on Highway 174 between Blair and Trim roads for the remainder of 2020, in preparation for the Stage 2 Confederation Line East Extension. Traffic will be maintained in both directions.

Highway 417 – A section of Highway 417 will close at Nicholas Street, in both directions, from Saturday, March 14 at 6 pm until Sunday, March 15 at 11 am. The eastbound on-ramps at Nicholas and Metcalfe streets will also close during that time. Detours will be in place.

Lane reductions will start on Saturday, March 14 at 5 pm, followed by the full closure at 6 pm. Workers will install six steel girders across the highway as part of the Ministry of Transportation’s replacement of the Nicholas Street underpass.

St Patrick’s Day Parade – The following streets will close for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 14:

  • Laurier Avenue, between Nicholas and Elgin streets, from 7:30 am until 11 am
  • Laurier Avenue, between Elgin and Bank streets, from 9 am until 12:30 pm
  • Bank Street, between Laurier Avenue and Exhibition Way, from 9 am until 12:30 pm
