On Monday, March 30, Elgin Street northbound will close between Catherine and Nepean streets until approximately the end of July. This closure is required to facilitate the completion of the Elgin Street renewal project.

Workers will complete all sidewalks, parking bays, landscaping and tree planting, and install street furniture and public art. They will also add the final layer of asphalt.

Detours

All northbound motorists, cyclists and transit service will be detoured from Elgin Street. Access to local properties for northbound traffic will be from Metcalfe and Cartier streets.

OC Transpo Routes 5, 14 and 114 will be detoured away from Elgin Street in the northbound direction only. Bus stops currently on northbound Elgin Street will be relocated along the detour routes. Southbound buses will continue to serve Elgin Street.

Visit ottawa.ca and octranspo.com for more information.

Parking

On-street parking along Elgin Street and some side streets will be removed to accommodate the work. Please pay attention to on-street parking signage and restrictions.

Free parking is available at City Hall on weekday evenings from 6 pm until 6 am, and all day on weekends and statutory holidays.

Pedestrians

Pedestrian crossings will be maintained around the work and signed detours will be in place. A number of Elgin Street businesses remain open and access will be maintained at all times.
