加拿大大学欺负和歧视中国人的事实

<HTML>我托福620分，大学成绩平均81分，国内E.E.硕士，渥太华的某个大学的教授（中国人）愿意要我。我于是就申请了，心想肯定没问题。结果竟然没通过学校这关。我问了这个教授，他也很惊讶，因为他看过我的以前成绩和论文，认为我没问题。于是我请他问一下系里的学术委员会，委员会对教授的答复竟然是如下（当然我问过他们，他们没将原因告诉我，教授是中国人，后来告诉了我）：

原因如下：
我虽然符合条件，但因为申请的较晚，前面有许多人也符合条件，但还没有教授要这些学生，为了照顾这些学生，同时主要因为申请人绝大多数是中国人，所以委员会自己决定凡是在中国排名非前三名的大学（清华，北大和另一所高校）来的学生，大学平均成绩现要求85分以上，而其他国家和中国前三名大学来的学生仍要求平均成绩78分即可。他们查了我在国内的大学，今年排名是中国第十名，而我的大学平均成绩是81分，不到85分，所以没戏。

竟然有这事，条件符合，有教授要我，还上不了学。</HTML>

<HTML>Sorry, I don't mean to hurt you, Warmheart. But, I guessed you must have applied for Ph.D. I did it consecutively for the last two years. I had better scores all over than you, better background (I got my master degree in US), few years of working experience in silicon valley (CA), but I was still turned down many times. One thing, like what people talked about earlier, there're really toooooo many outstanding Chinese thinking to get back to school nowadays. Plus, the professor might not have the last say. My wife applied for an MBA program here, the dean of the school accepted her, but she was still turned down by the graduate school, they said her score was not competitive enough.

One tip: try low-tier school, then while you are studying there, try upper ones again.

I know how you feel about it. I am lucky that already involving graduate study in ottawa U with financial aid.

I don't think it is because the professors' associate has race discrimination to chinese people. I think it is really because too many people applying now, especially chinese. You know in CBY building(SITE), most of graduate students are yellow-skinned. And the rest are from india or other countries. But one thing is unfair. Many chinese people are really not good enough, as I know. They are just earlier.

I have to suggest you some ideas:
1. Move to other cities for other Universities
2. Try other institute of Ottawa U or Carleton U.
3. Try other professor who agrees to give you research assistance.

I think most of us here can only show sorry for you. But don't give up. Everything will be fine. You will find your place.</HTML>

<HTML>If I were you, I would apply other universities. U of Ottawa and carleton U are
very low school. Maybe you will get some benefits right now due to
the renting of the housing, however it's better to apply one good school.

Subject in EE is very important.</HTML>

<HTML>And, if you don't wanna move to other cities. You can still take 1 or 2 graduate courses as a special student, the prof. you contacted with would give you the permission since he admired you. Then for the admission of next term, your will be the earlier ones, and the 1 or 2 courses will make you more competative. And you are lucky enough, the 1 or 2 credits can be transfered.</HTML>

<HTML>Carleton EE is not bad. Which program you are applying to, CS or EE. I will be suprised if they rejected you into EE program. However, I do know they are discouraging EE graduate applying for CS or vise versa for a while.</HTML>
