The following projects will impact Ottawa traffic:
Elgin Street – Elgin Street northbound between Catherine and Nepean streets is closed until the end of July to renew Elgin Street. One southbound lane is open to traffic, transit and cyclists. Visit our web page on current traffic impacts for more information.
Innes Road – From Wednesday, April 15 to Wednesday, June 24, one westbound lane on Innes Road will close between Star Top and Cyrville roads.
Interprovincial bridges and ferry – Motorists can expect delays when travelling from Ottawa to Quebec at the Alexandra, Champlain, Chaudière, Portage and Macdonald-Cartier bridges, and when taking the ferry from Cumberland, Ontario to Masson, Quebec.
On Wednesday, April 1, the Province of Quebec restricted non-essential travel between Ottawa and Gatineau to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Gatineau police are conducting spot checks and may not allow people from outside Quebec to enter if they are not traveling for an essential reason or if they are showing symptoms of COVID-19.
Montreal Road – Montreal Road from North River Road to Marier Avenue is reduced to one lane in each direction, including the Cummings Bridge, for the Montreal Road Revitalization project. As well, North River road from Montreal Road to Selkirk Street will have lane reductions in both directions. Each of these impacts will be in place for the next two weeks.
Montreal Road at Highway 174 – From Friday, April 10 through summer, Montreal Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction between the Highway 174 westbound off-ramp and the Highway 174 eastbound on-ramp, to build the east extension of the Stage 2 Confederation Line. One left turn lane at the Highway 174 eastbound off-ramp will be closed. The pathway on the north side of Montreal Road will be closed, but there will be a a new pathway for pedestrians and cyclists on the south side of Montreal Road.
The Province of Ontario announced on Monday, March 23 that construction is an essential service. The City is working closely with the construction industry and contract workers who provide services on behalf of the City. All contract workers must follow Ottawa Public Health’s recommended safety measures. The COVID-19 situation is rapidly evolving, so there may be modifications to construction work if the situation changes. The City will communicate any changes to stakeholders and residents.
