City of Ottawa officials are holding a teleconference Friday to provide an update on the current COVID-19 situation in the city.

Mayor Jim Watson, Vera Etches, chief medical officer or health, and Anthony Di Monte, general manager for emergency and protective services, are scheduled to join the call to discuss the pandemic and the city's response.

Today's update will include data from both Thursday and Friday as the city held back from issuing its daily report yesterday in order to switch over to a new way of tracking the virus.

As of last update, Ottawa had 1,297 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and reported 76 deaths.

Ottawa enters 'post-peak period,' Etches says

Ottawa is officially in the "post-peak period" in terms of community transmission of COVID-19, the city's medical officer of health said on Friday.

"I do believe we are in the post-peak period, as it's being called, in Ottawa as well as the province when it comes to community-based infection," Vera Etches said during Friday's teleconference.

That conclusion is based on a declining number of people being hospitalized for COVID-19 infection, she said.

Etches added the recent rise in the number of hospitalizations is linked to outbreaks in long-term care homes, not the virus spreading in the wider community.

Ottawa currently has 1,372 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths since Wednesday. The city's death toll from coronavirus remains at 76.

COVID-19 Epidemiology Update
Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is transitioning to a new case management and reporting system. This transition will position OPH to better manage COVID-19 case volumes, facilitate remote work options for the case management team, and continue to uphold provincial reporting obligations. To support the transition, OPH is currently conducting quality assurance to validate the data in the new system. In the interim, a condensed report will be posted until the transition is complete. The report includes the most current information available from the Ottawa Public Health COVID-19 Ottawa Database (COD) as of 2:00 p.m. on May 1, 2020.

The full report, previously published on a daily basis, provides an epidemiologic summary of COVID-19 activity in Ottawa up to April 29th. The report includes the most current information available from the integrated Public Health Information System (iPHIS) and a chart review of COVID-19 cases as of 4:00 p.m. April 28, 2020.

Both iPHIS and the COD are dynamic disease reporting systems that allow for continuous updates of case information. These data are a snapshot in time, reflect the most accurate information that OPH has at the time of reporting, and the numbers may differ from other sources.

看covid 19疫情变化的一个比较准确的指标是住院的人数包括在ICU的人数，看确诊人数意义不大，因为测试的多，肯定确诊的人数多。渥太华从上周开始扩大了测试人群，测试所有老人院的人，现在更是扩大到所有60岁以上有症状的人。4月29日以前OPH的 Full Report有住院的人数包括在ICU的人数的统计，后面Condensed Report 就没有了，不知道哪里能查到最近几天渥太华的住院的人数包括在ICU的人数。
