Traffic impacts in Ottawa beginning Friday, May 15

The following projects will impact Ottawa traffic:

Bank Street canal bridge – The curb lanes in both the northbound and southbound directions on the Bank Street canal bridge have been converted to pedestrian walkways. The bridge now has one traffic lane and one pedestrian lane in each direction, between Wilton Crescent and Echo Drive.

Bronson Avenue – There will be off-peak and overnight lane closures on Bronson Avenue between Arlington and Imperial avenues from Tuesday, May 19 to Friday, May 29 to complete reinstatement work. There will be temporary changes to traffic lanes during construction. Access for pedestrians, cyclists and local traffic will be maintained.

McBean Street bridge – The McBean Street bridge will close between Royal York and Strachan streets from Tuesday, May 19 to Monday, May 25 for renewal. A signed detour will be in place. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained.

Metcalfe Street – Metcalfe Street will close between Frank and Lewis streets from Tuesday, May 19 to Tuesday, May 26 for deep sewer and watermain work as part of the Elgin Street renewal. Local access will be maintained and signed detours will be in place.

Merivale Road Merivale Road will have lane reductions in both directions between Prince of Wales Drive and Slack Road from Monday, May 18 to September, on weekdays from 7 am to 7pm, to resurface the road. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained.

Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway – Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway will close to motorists between the Aviation Parkway and St. Joseph Boulevard, on weekends from 8 am to 4 pm, from Saturday, May 16, 2020 to Sunday, May 31, 2020. This closure is a pilot project managed by the National Capital Commission to facilitate physical distancing.

Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway The westbound lanes of Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway will close to motorists between Dominion Avenue and Booth Street, on weekends from 8 am to 4 pm, from Saturday, May 16, 2020 to Sunday, May 31, 2020. This closure is a pilot project managed by the National Capital Commission to facilitate physical distancing.

Queen Elizabeth Driveway – Queen Elizabeth Driveway will close to motorists between Laurier and Fifth avenues daily until Sunday, May 24, from 8 am to 8 pm. Motorists will be able to cross Queen Elizabeth Driveway from the Pretoria Bridge to access Pretoria Avenue. Access for emergency vehicles and OC Transpo buses will be maintained. This closure is a pilot project managed by the National Capital Commission to facilitate physical distancing. Please consult the NCC website for the latest on the status of the pilot project.

Vanier Parkway Vanier Parkway will have lanes reductions, nightly, in both directions between Presland Road and Donald Street to replace a storm sewer and watermain from Tuesday, May 19 to Monday, June 8. The sidewalk on the east side of Vanier Parkway between Presland Road and Donald Street will be closed. Pedestrians can use the sidewalk west of the Vanier Parkway.
