It’s National Health and Fitness Day in Canada this Saturday, June 6, but gyms, yoga studios and even the City’s recreation facilities are all closed due to the pandemic. And if you’re part of an at-risk group, you’re also supposed to be staying at home and self-isolating.
So how are you to stay active?
Ottawa’s Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department can help. We have created a YouTube channel and have started recording workout videos aimed at adults who are 50 and older. This group isn’t as well served by the high-intensity workout videos already online that the weekend warriors use. Our videos fill an underserved niche.
We have already posted our first batch of workouts for you to try, and we’ll add more each week. After your workout, you can also enjoy the Tea with Dave series of videos where you can learn about things like tips for staying active and connected, or Nordic walking.
We’re planning several fun online activities for National Health and Fitness Day, including free live fitness classes between 10 am and 3 pm on YouTube and Facebook.
Subscribe to the OttawaRecCulture YouTube channel. Give some of the workouts a try and stay tuned to see what comes next.
