The deadline to file or withdraw a nomination for candidacy in the 2020 Cumberland By-election is Friday, August 21 at 2 pm.
To file or withdraw a nomination, please call 613-580-2660 to make an appointment with the Elections Office at 1221 B Cyrville Road. Appointments are required and are available Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Nomination forms
The required forms must be filed by the candidate or an agent acting on their behalf, by appointment only at the Elections Office. Form 2 is not required. Due to COVID-19, the City Clerk has waived the requirement for 25 signatures to become a candidate, in accordance with Sections 12 and 53 of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996.
Filing fee
You must pay a filing fee when submitting nomination papers. The $100 filing fee can be paid by cash, debit, credit card, certified cheque or money order.
Withdraw a nomination
To withdraw a nomination, the candidate or an agent acting on their behalf must submit the request in writing with the candidate’s original signature, by appointment only at the Elections Office. Proof of identity of the candidate or their agent must be presented.
