Position: Mental Health Support Worker (Position requires fluency in English and Chinese languages)
Status: short term contract, 17 hours per week till the end of November 2020

The FSCSC is an incorporate, non for profit, nonpartisan agency that provides one on one support, group support and public education support to culturally diverse communities in the Capital Region on mental health. Dementia care, and caregiver support.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Mental Health Support Worker (Chinese speaking) is going to provide virtual one on one mental health support to the isolated Chinese seniors in the social housing buildings in downtown Ottawa, and share related community resources such as food, health care, government policies and programs with the isolated Chinese seniors virtually.
Responsibilities
--Provide one on one mental health and emotional support virtually to the identified Chinese isolated seniors due to covid-19 pandemic in the identified social housing buildings
--Recruit seniors volunteers that live the social housing buildings
--Work with the senior volunteers to identify the isolated Chinese seniors win their buildings
--Share related community resources, government policies and programs with seniors by social medias

Essential Qualifications and Experiences
- Education: Master of Social Work from a recognized post-secondary institution
- Current registration as a Registered Social Worker and a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers
- Has professional liability insurance
- 5+ years mental health support and counselling experiences
- 5+ years experiences working with Chinese seniors
- Fluent in Chinese–speaking, writing, and reading
- Excellent English reading, writing, and speaking ability
- Excellent information research ability
- Familiar with virtual communication tools
