Are the shorter days and cooler evenings making you long for summer already? Yes, the summer activities were welcome distractions from the pandemic’s daily grind. But take heart, the City of Ottawa has a way for you and your family to stay active and have fun – right through the fall.

Try our cardio and weight rooms or hit the pool for a public swim or do laps at our lane swimming sessions. We will be opening the cardio and weight rooms at additional facilities and five more swimming pools on September 8:

It’s also not too late to register for our inclusive recreation swim programs, swimming lessons and certification programs. Check out our programs and register at ottawa.ca/swim.

Stay tuned to ottawa.ca/drop-in as we will be adding more drop-in fitness classes and activities at even more of our recreation facilities – starting Tuesday, September 15. The offerings present something for the young and young-at-heart, including:

  • Aquafit – which begins on September 8
  • Yoga
  • Fitness classes
  • Racquet ball
  • Walking clubs

Booking a time is simple, and you can reserve up to two days in advance. You pay when you arrive at the facility, preferably using a contactless method of payment, such as a debit or credit card.

The City, in consultation with Ottawa Public Health, has implemented COVID-19 protocols and measures to safeguard you and your family. Check out our protocols at ottawa.ca/recreation.

Get up and get out to escape your makeshift home offices and classrooms. Staying active benefits your physical and mental health. So, try our drop-in recreation offerings.

Remember, our Recreation eGuide with additional fall programs is coming online at ottawa.ca/recreation later in September, with registration in early October.
