City to fly flags at half-mast

On Saturday, September 19, the City lowered flags at all sites to half-mast in honour of the late Right Hon. John Turner, who served as Prime Minister of Canada from June 30 to September 17, 1984. Mr. Turner passed away on September 19. The flags will remain at half-mast until sunset on Tuesday, October 6, the day of his funeral services.

Sunday, September 27 is Police and Peace Officers’ National Memorial Day. On that day, the lowered flags will also commemorate the brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
