The City placed second out of 41 North American cities in the Public Sector Digest’s Open Cities Index. The index ranks cities based on the data they openly share with the public.
Since we launched our open data initiative in 2010, we have added steadily to our open data catalogue, which today features almost 400 data sets, ranging from information about which parks allow dogs to where every streetlight is located.
In the past year, we released a record number of 55 data sets, including several for key City’s initiatives like our climate action plan, the ward boundary review and our e-scooter pilot.
The City’s open data catalogue also includes key COVID-19 datasets including an interactive dashboard, neighbourhood-level COVID case counts and community outbreaks.
The Public Sector Digest is North America's leading publication for public policy providing insight into industry trends and best practices. It developed the Open Cities Index as a framework to gauge the level of openness in cities across North America.
