Get ready for sky blue, lime green, magenta, crimson, and aquamarine!
Since 2019, the OTTAWA sign has lit up the ByWard Market 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. This popular attraction shines in an array of colours and patterns to celebrate special days and holidays, mark seasons, and boost community spirit.
And starting today, local charities, nonprofits, and other eligible organizations can apply to illuminate the sign in the colours of their choice through the newly launched Community Lighting Program.
Applicants can visit the City’s webpage to learn more about the eligibility requirements and how to apply. The application period will remain open until May 17, 2021. City of Ottawa staff will evaluate each request based on a first-come, first-served basis, in accordance with the eligibility requirements. Successful applicants will be notified in early June, with illuminations set to begin in late June.
Application periods will reopen seasonally: in late fall 2021 for illuminations in winter/spring 2022 and in spring 2022 for illuminations in summer/fall 2022.
