To enable the ongoing construction of the new LRT cut and cover tunnel through Byron Linear park, a section of Woodroffe Avenue south of Richmond Road will be closed to traffic for approximately two weeks starting the evening of May 28. The extended closure is required to complete preliminary work on the tunnel where it crosses Woodroffe Avenue and is required to help reduce the overall duration of construction across this intersection.
The contractor will undertake preliminary excavation and will install temporary decking in preparation for construction of the LRT tunnel beneath Woodroffe as part of the O-Train West Extension of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project.
Woodroffe Avenue will be open to local traffic between Knightsbridge Road and Carling Avenue, only. Signed detours will be in place via Croydon Avenue to the west of Woodroffe Avenue or Churchill Avenue to the east. North/south cycling and pedestrian connectivity will remain open throughout the closure. All OC Transpo routes currently operating on this section of Woodroffe will be detoured, and signage will be in place at affected stops. Customers can find out where to catch their bus by calling 613-741-4390.
Woodroffe Avenue closure at Richmond Road for approximately two weeks starting May 28
The Stage 2 O-Train West extension will run from Tunney’s Pasture Station to Moodie and Algonquin Stations, and includes a tunnel under, the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway and Byron Linear Park between two LRT stations, Kìchì Sìbì and Lincoln Fields.
