As this summer shapes up to be yet another year with adventures on hold, there is one little thing residents can do to play a big role in helping the city get back to normal. Getting the vaccine will not only protect ourselves and those around us, but it’ll also help keep kids in classrooms and doors open for our local businesses. If you’ve been waiting to get your vaccine booked, there is no better time than the present!
Booking an appointment made easy
As updates continue to stream in for the provincial booking system, it has never been easier to schedule a first or second dose for yourself or your friends and family. With so many clinics and pharmacies offering the vaccine, there is no shortage of options that residents can use to book.
To book a first or second dose through the province, you can visit Ontario.ca/bookvaccine to access the provincial booking system or call the provincial vaccine booking line at 1-833-943-3900 between 8 am and 8 pm, seven days a week. Many local pharmacies across the city are also offering the vaccine. For more information on the closest option to you, check out the on OttawaPublicHealth.ca/COVID19vaccine. For eligible priority neighbourhood residents, appointments are also available at a pop-up clinic, or at the Bruyère vaccine clinic. Please be sure to check in advance whether you are eligible.
Perfect for when you have a day off, residents hoping to book a last-minute day-of appointment can also add their name to the daily vaccine waitlist tool. These appointments can open up at any time during the day and registered residents will be contacted by Ottawa Public Health by text, email or phone as they become available.
If your second dose was booked when you scheduled your first, don’t forget to move it up! All residents aged 12 years old and up are now eligible to receive an accelerated second dose. You can easily re-book your second dose appointment using your booking confirmation number emailed to you by the province.
Your appointment couldn’t be more breezy
Thanks to the immense amount of work put in by City staff, Ottawa Public Health and front-line healthcare workers, you can expect your appointment to be a breeze. Streamlined processes means that lines are short and move quickly. You can help keep this process neat by having your health card ready upon arrival, pre-filling the Province’s COVID-19 screening questionnaire upon your arrival and arriving no earlier than 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment.
Needle phobia is a normal thing and accommodations for those with severe needle phobia can be made. For special accommodations for needle phobia, or other accessibility requests, residents can fill out Ottawa Public Health’s COVID-19 Vaccine accessibility assessment form.
