The period to apply for the position of Councillor in Ward 4 (Kanata North) ends tomorrow, Friday, October 29, 2021, at 4 pm.
To be eligible to hold office, a person must be:
Interested and qualified individuals, or their agent, must schedule an appointment to submit their forms in person at the Elections Office (1221 B Cyrville Road). Appointments can be scheduled with the City Clerk or his designate by calling 613-580-2660 or by emailing elections@ottawa.ca. The deadline to submit an application is 4:00 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, October 29, 2021.
All applicants are required to complete a Consent of Nominee and Declaration of Qualification form.
If an agent is filing the form on behalf of an applicant, the form must be fully completed by the applicant prior to filing.
The applicant, or their agent, filing the form will be required to present proof of identity. If personal identification is not available, the applicant, or their agent, may fill out a Declaration of Identity form. All required forms can be found online on ottawa.ca/vote.
Following the close of the application period, the City Clerk will examine each application that has been filed to ensure it meets the requirements of the Municipal Act, 2001, and the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, and, if satisfied, certify the application. At the end of the application period, the City Clerk will issue a Memorandum to City Council with the list of certified applicants. The list of certified applicants will also be available on ottawa.ca/vote following the close of the application period.
The City Clerk will issue a report to City Council on Friday, November 5, 2021, that includes the list of certified applicants and outlines the appointment process to fill the Ward 4 (Kanata North) vacancy. A Special City Council meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, 15 minutes after the end of the regular City Council meeting scheduled on this date, to appoint an applicant to fill the Ward 4 (Kanata North) vacancy.

- a Canadian citizen;
- a resident of the City of Ottawa, or an owner or tenant of land in the City or the spouse of such an owner or tenant; and
- not be prohibited from holding municipal office or from voting under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 or otherwise by law.
