Over the past year, the City has added over 100 new art pieces by nearly 70 different artists to its diverse collection of artworks. You can sample a selection of the recent additions to the Collection on display at the City Hall Art Gallery as a part of the Holding Pattern exhibition until February 11, 2022. The gallery is open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, except holidays.

The exhibition title, Holding Pattern, references our current state of suspension following another year of multiple lockdowns and social interruptions. The exhibition features 27 new artists that haven’t been included in the City’s Art Collection previously. Other highlights of the exhibition include the City’s first GIF illustration by Chantal Rousseau and 3D printed sculptures created by Pansee Atta.

Currently, the City has collected over 3,100 artworks over the past 30 years. The Collection contains work from more than 860 artists and can be found on display in over 170 municipal buildings and spaces around Ottawa. Pieces are added to the City of Ottawa Art Collection through purchase, commission and donation based on peer assessment committees’ recommendations.
