The City advises residents to prepare for continued traffic and service impacts on Tuesday, February 1. While demonstrations may have decreased, the remaining number of trucks, vehicles and participants in the area are still causing major traffic issues.
Residents are advised to avoid non-essential travel, especially in the downtown core.
The following services will see delays and cancellations:
Children’s services
St. Luke’s Child Care Centre and Centre éducatif Pinocchio will remain closed. Parents and guardians are being notified directly.
Ottawa Public Library branches
The Ottawa Public Library’s Main and Rideau branches will be closed.
Waste and recycling collection
At this time, the City is not anticipating an impact to residential waste collection as a result of the demonstration. Residents can stay informed of curbside collection delays by signing up to receive notifications through the Ottawa Collection Calendar app; download the app or simply register for email updates by entering an address online.
Street-side receptacles and litter are being addressed where access permits.
City Hall
Ottawa City Hall and its amenities will remain closed for public access due to City Hall’s location close to the areas most affected by traffic congestion.
These amenities include:
Ottawa Public Health COVID-19 vaccination clinic – University of Ottawa Minto Sports Complex
Ottawa Public Health’s community vaccination clinic at the University of Ottawa Minto Sports Complex will be closed. Those who had an appointment at the clinic can take advantage of available drop-in offerings at other community clinics or rebook their appointment. Traffic impacts
Many roadways across the city will experience traffic delays and disruptions. In addition, details may change on short notice and additional roads may be affected. Residents can continue to check our online traffic map for up-to-date information on traffic delays and disruptions due to the demonstrations.
Impacts on OC Transpo
All bus routes with service downtown are expected to remain on detour into Tuesday, until service can be reliably returned to downtown streets. Residents who need to travel in and out of the downtown core should use O-Train Line 1.
