Are you a musician based in Ottawa? Want your original music to be heard by residents throughout 2022? Applications are now open for any local musician who wants their music featured in this year’s #ottmusic 2022 programs: Music on Hold and City Sounds!
The Music on Hold program selects local music to play while callers to the City of Ottawa’s phone system (3-1-1) wait on hold. This year, up to 35 songs will be selected by a committee of musicians and industry professionals. A full playlist is available each year on ottawa.ca/ottmusic for those who want to listen uninterrupted.
City Sounds is a streamable playlist created annually to shine a spotlight on local talent. Updated playlists are usually available in the fall. You can listen to the 2021 City Sounds playlist now by visiting ottawa.ca/ottmusic.
March is Francophonie Month in Ottawa - if you know a local Francophone musician or group, encourage them to submit their work to help us celebrate the local Francophone music scene.
Applications for both programs are open until Tuesday, April 5. To be eligible, applicants must be 18 years and older and Ottawa residents. You can learn more about how to apply by visiting ottawa.ca/ottmusic.
For more information on City programs and services, visit ottawa.ca, call 3-1-1 (TTY: 613-580-2401) or 613-580-2400 to contact the City using Canada Video Relay Service. You can also connect with us through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
