The City of Ottawa has been named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for the 10th time.
The winners were selected by editors at Mediacorp Canada.

This year, the City was recognized for increasing diversity in the workforce, fostering a sense of belonging for diverse staff and improving access to services for people from underserved communities.
The City’s Diversity and Inclusion Plan strives to nurture a respectful and inclusive culture where all employees experience a sense of belonging. Over the past year, the following initiatives have been pivotal to the City’s efforts to turn this mission into a lived reality:
The City also hosted a series of action planning and engagement sessions with diverse communities of racialized residents, community partners and stakeholders, as well as staff, to inform the City’s first Anti-Racism Strategy.

- Offering Indigenous awareness training for staff
- Implementing the City’s Older Adult Plan and Reconciliation Action Plan.
- Creating and supporting nine different employee-led affinity groups
- Creating the Gender and Race Equity, Inclusion, Indigenous Relations and Social Development service area
- Hosting a series of interactive learning events for staff and residents through our Women and Gender Equity Strategy
- Hiring more staff within the four employment equity groups, which brings us closer to our goal of a workforce that reflects the community we serve.
