Habitat Greater Ottawa is looking for a dynamic and highly motivated individual interested in the position of Accounting Assistant.

The Accounting Clerk will work under the supervision of the Director of Finance. This role is responsible for providing accounting and administrative support for the Habitat Greater Ottawa Accounting Department.

REPORT TO: Habitat Greater Ottawa, Director of Finance

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Family Monthly Mortgage Payment

Confirm the payment schedule with the family service manager.

Follow the date to do the EFT (ACH) for families through online banking.

Enter each family’s payment into Spreadsheet and QuickBooks.

Reconcile QuickBooks with bank statements; notify family service manager if there is a NSF transaction.​


Restore Sales

Collect sales summary and transaction slips from Restore manager for the 2 restores weekly.

Enter the daily sales for 2 restores based on the transaction slips from Debit machine in the Spreadsheet.

Compare the weekly sales summary provided by the manager with the Spreadsheet. If discrepancies happen, contact Restore manager to find the reason and make adjustment as needed.

Print out the weekly sales Spreadsheets for 2 restores and attached to the sales summary, give them to CEO for reviewing.​

Manage Business Visa claim

Collect the visa claim form and the receipts from each employee.

Match receipts with visa statement. If missing receipt happen, ask the employee to fill out the missing receipt claim form and forward it to CEO for approval.

Once have all the documents matched, enter the visa expense in QuickBooks under the correct class and account for each employee.

Hand all the visa statements, claim forms and receipts to CEO for Approval.

Other General Support


Assist in payroll preparations

Work with the Director of Finance in monthly-end closing and financial reports

Other general office support​


QUALIFICATIONS:

Organized and detail-oriented with exceptional communication skills

Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Accounting Diploma

QuickBooks

Experience in Habitat for Humanity or other non-profit organizations is an asset​


TIME COMMITMENT:



35 hours per week;

Contract position for 8 weeks. Start June 13 2022.​


HOURLY WAGE:

$15 per hour
