The City’s beaches, swimming pools, and wading pools will be opening this month for cool and refreshing fun for Summer 2022.

Lifeguard on duty at Mooney's Bay.

Beaches – June 18

The City’s beaches at Mooney’s Bay, Britannia and Petrie Island will be open for supervised swimming starting Saturday, June 18. Westboro Beach will be closed for the season due to the National Capital Commission’s redevelopment project of the site.

Lifeguards will be on duty daily from 11 am to 7 pm until August 28. Ottawa Public Health will conduct regular water quality testing. Check for the latest water-quality results and no swimming advisories.

Beach accessible wheelchairs will be available on a first come first serve basis.

Also, keep our beaches and parks clean by not littering. Dispose of your waste in bins or bring it home to dispose in your green bin or your recycling and garbage bins.

There is a fee for parking at Mooney’s Bay and Petrie Island. You can also check octranspo.com to help plan your transit route to the parks and beaches.

Outdoor deep-water swimming pools

Outdoor swimming pool facilities will open in the coming days. Reservations can be made at ottawa.ca/recreation for a one-hour session.

Wading pools – June 21-June 30

City-operated wading pools operated have four staggard opening dates beginning on Tuesday, June 21 followed by June 25, June 26, and June 30. To find out the opening date of the wading pool in your neighourhood, visit Swimming | City of Ottawa. Wading Pool Attendants are on duty during all operating hours to provide safety supervision at the pools.

If the heat simmers before these opening dates, the City’s splash pads are now open. Visit ottawa.ca for the nearest splash pad to you.
