Beginning today, electors can apply to vote by mail and verify or update their information on the Voters’ List for the 2022 Municipal Elections.

Voter notification letters and the Voters’ List

The City of Ottawa’s Elections Office has sent voter notification letters to eligible Ottawa electors who are currently on the Voters’ List, providing information on how, where and when to vote in the upcoming municipal elections.

Eligible electors who either did not receive a voter notification letter, or had incorrect information on their letter, can verify, add, or amend their information on the Voters’ List for the 2022 Municipal Elections from September 1 to 16 at 4:30 pm by:


After September 16, electors can verify, add, or amend their information on the Voters’ List at their voting place on voting days.

Revised voter notification letters will be sent to electors who have added or amended their information on the Voters’ List between September 1 and 16 during the week of September 19.

You can bring your voter notification letter with you to your voting place to expedite the voting process; however, it is not required.

Apply to vote by special mail-in ballot

The period to apply to vote by special mail-in ballot for the 2022 Municipal Elections is now open. Eligible electors can apply to vote by mail from September 1 to September 16 at 4:30 pm.

To request a special mail-in ballot:


The Elections Office must receive applications by September 16 at 4:30 pm in order to be processed.

Special mail-in ballot voter kits with instructions on how to cast your special mail-in ballot will be mailed the week of September 26.

Completed special ballots must be received at the Elections Office or any Client Service Centre by October 24 at 4:30 pm in order to be counted. Any special ballots received after this deadline will not be counted.

Vote in person

There are seven in-person voting days to choose from for the 2022 Municipal Elections:

  • Special Advance Vote Days from September 24 to 27;
  • Advance Vote Days on October 7 and 14; and
  • Voting Day on October 24.

During Special Advance Vote Days, electors can vote at any of the nine voting places across the city, regardless of their address:

  • François Dupuis Recreation Centre, 2263 Portobello Blvd
  • St-Laurent Complex, 525 Côté St
  • City Hall, 110 Laurier Ave W
  • Greenboro Community Centre, 363 Lorry Greenberg Dr
  • Minto Recreation Complex – Barrhaven, 3500 Cambrian Rd
  • Nepean Sportsplex, 1701 Woodroffe Ave
  • Michele Heights Community Centre, 2955 Michèle Dr
  • Richcraft Recreation Complex – Kanata, 4101 Innovation Dr
  • CARDELREC Recreation Complex Goulbourn, 1500 Shea Rd

During Advance Vote Days and Voting Day, electors must vote at their designated voting place. Visit ottawa.ca/vote and use the “Where do I vote?” tool to find out when and where you can vote.

If you can’t make it to a voting place, you can appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf between September 1 and October 24.
