Westbound Richmond Road, between New Orchard Avenue and McEwen Avenue, will close for Stage 2 LRT work starting on Sunday, September 11 at 6 am. The closure will remain in place until the end of 2023.
Westbound motorists and cyclists will be rerouted to Ambleside Drive, New Orchard Avenue, and then back to Richmond Road. Detour signage will be in place while the closure is in place. During construction, pedestrian access to businesses will remain open at all times on Richmond Road and residents and visitors are encouraged to continue to support Richmond Road businesses.
The Stage 2 O-Train West extension includes installation of a tunnel along Byron Avenue. To facilitate this work, the westbound lane must be closed.
The Stage 2 West extension is one of three extensions to the O-Train network and will see an additional 15 kilometres of rail and 11 new stations.
