Three local writers were honoured with the prestigious Ottawa Book Awards at last night’s ceremony, hosted by Mayor Jim Watson. Each was awarded a prize of $7,500.
David O’Meara received the Ottawa Book Award in the English fiction category for his collection of poems Masses on Radar (Coach House Books). Mike Blanchfield and Fen Osler Hampson, received the prize for English non-fiction for their work The Two Michaels: Innocent Canadian Captives and High Stakes Espionage in the US-China Cyber War (Sutherland House).
The Prix du livre d’Ottawa award for French fiction went to Michèle Vinet for her novel Le malaimant (Les Éditions L’Interligne).
Arc Poetry Magazine presented David O’Meara with the 2022 Archibald Lampman Award for his book Masses on Radar (Coach House Books) as the year’s best work of poetry.
The Association des auteures et auteurs de l’Ontario français presented the Prix AAOF de littérature jeunesse 2022 to Micheline Marchand for her book, Perdue au bord de la baie d’Hudson (Les Éditions David).
