这次美联储加息后,美国基准利率为4.5%,比加拿大基准利率还高0.25%. 预计明年1月加拿大央行会再加0.25%让加拿大基准利率升至4.5%.

1个多月前美联储主席说,明年美国基准利率预计升至4.75%,紧接着加元对美元突然连续5天贬值.看见加元对美元不断贬值,加拿大央行行长赶紧出来说,明年加拿大基准利率预计升至4.5%而不是原先计划的4%,才成功阻止加元对美元的进一步贬值.

在高通胀时期,加元对美元贬值,会导致从美国进口的食品和日常用品价格攀升,进一步推高加拿大通胀.所以,在高通胀时期,加拿大基准利率会尽量接近美国基准利率.
