Today, the Light Rail Sub-committee received an update on the City’s response to the Ottawa Light Rail Transit Public Inquiry. OC Transpo will present its action plan on the recommendations made in the Ottawa Light Rail Transit Public Inquiry report at a future meeting.

Staff also provided an update on the Transportation Safety Board’s recent Rail Transportation Safety Advisory Letter, issued to the City on February 3.

The Light Rail Sub-Committee approved its terms of reference for the 2022-2026 Term of Council. The committee’s mandate is to provide oversight and focused attention on non-operational matters related to Ottawa’s light rail systems, including all light rail construction projects, the City’s action plan in response to the Ottawa Light Rail Public Inquiry and other third-party reviews of the light-rail transit system. Membership consists of six Members of Council and the Mayor.

The sub-committee today passed a motion to recommend Council direct the Interim City Manager bring forward a report outlining staff’s delegated authority with respect to the Stage 1 and Stage 2 Light Rail Transit (LRT) Project Agreements, including the current use and application. The motion also requires the Interim City Manager to provide the sub-committee with regular updates on the use of delegated authority, and that amendments related to the Project Agreements be brought to Council for approval.
