Kenora angler Jeff Gustafson became the first Canadian to win the US$1-million Bassmaster Classic, pro bass fishing's premier event, on the Tennessee River.
In doing so, he became the world champion of bass fishing and the first Canadian to win the Bassmaster Classic in its 52 years. With the title he received US$300,000 in prize money and an automatic invitation to compete in next year’s Bassmaster Classic in Tulsa, Okla.
