The City of Ottawa presented its action plan in response to the Ottawa Light Rail Transit Public Inquiry during a technical briefing today at City Hall. The City’s action plan is available on ottawa.ca and will be considered by the Light Rail Sub-Committee on April 28.

The final report from the inquiry, which was published in December 2022, included 103 recommendations. The majority of the recommendations are directed at the City of Ottawa and its contractor Rideau Transit Group and Rideau Transit Maintenance. Others lie within the jurisdiction of the provincial and federal governments.

As outlined in the City’s action plan, 36 of the 103 recommendations are complete or have been incorporated into ongoing City policies for implementation into future projects. The remainder of the recommendations are in progress and expected to be completed by the end of 2023.

Once approved by Committee and Council, the action plan will be updated regularly on ottawa.ca and octranspo.com to allow the public to stay up to date on the City’s progress.

The City is committed to improving the reliability and maintaining the safety of O-Train Line 1, as well as preparing for future light rail transit expansions and other major infrastructure projects by incorporating lessons learned from Stage 1 and the recommendations of the public inquiry.
