网络接入商：Sympatico OR Rogers cable

问题如下：

1。 据说网络质量随所住地区变化。我以前在BARRHAVEN用SYMPATICO，质量不错。但是搬家到KANATA LAKE 后，下载速度只有的400K，并时常掉线。 打过无数次服务电话，无效！其它的朋友们是否遇到同样的问题？ 不知ROGERS在此区域的网络质量如何？？？

2。 若只有ROGERS HIGH SPEED 而不订ROGERS BASIC TV CABLE， 需多付钱吗？ 可以看到TV吗？

Sympatico 广告说是1.5Mbps, 但是，我的网络只能达到400Kbps. 晚上尤其慢！

1. you can check your internet speed in the web site: www.2wires.com
My calbe ususally scores b/w 500-800k.

2. If one just surf in the net, they are about the same, because most ftp site has a flow control about 150-200k. And for watching the regular web pages, they are both more than enough.

3. My most fast cable experience was: downloading over night (about 9 hours) for almost 2G Bytes file. (Several moives, and almost make my hard disk full).

4. My guess is, the edge access speed doesn't matter that much, everyone meet in the backbone, and in most cases, the congestion in the backbone will slow down the performance of both cable and DSL.

To "1": Download speed 170kbps is not acceptable for high speed connection.

To "Maybe": Just tested my internet speed, it's about 560kbps. I also tested with www.toast.net which is usually used by syspatico customer service people. It's almost the same. The customer service people told me it should be at ~800kbps for normal operation. Actually before my moving, I always scored b/w at 900-1200kbps. It is very fast, and very easily to see the difference. Therefore I believe there is something wrong with the access node in Kanata Lake area if everyone run into the same problem.

我看是你的概念有点问题...我说的是1.7Mbps, 下载最大速度是每秒170Kb左右
为什么56Kbps的modem不能没秒下56K呢?:blink:
