am buying a domestic one-way-ticket from PDX to SLC and taking Delta air.
The price for PDX-SLC is $209.
whereas the price for PDX-SLC-BOI is $173. SLC is the free stopover.
I am thinking about buying the one-way ticket from PDX to BOI (with the free SLC stopover)
When the plane stopover at SLC for transfer, I tell the airline that I am not boarding the second segment of my flight to BOI since I want to go to SLC.
I can save $30 by buying the PDX-SLC-BOI flight instead of the PDX-SLC flight.
Delta specifically addresses what you are trying to do.. It violates their Contract of Carriage...
Read Rule 100 entitled "Tickets", section 3C. It reads in part:
3) Delta specifically prohibits the practices commonly known as: C) Hidden City/Point Beyond Ticketing - The issuance, purchase or usage of a fare from a point before the passenger's actual origin or to a point beyond the passenger's actual destination.
