The City of Gatineau has advised of upcoming construction work to improve the intersection of the NCC Voyageurs Pathway and the Chief William Commanda Bridge pathway, affecting users' access to and departure from the bridge at the north end of the multi-use pathway.

From Tuesday, May 14 until Friday, May 17, the north end of the Chief William Commanda Bridge on the Gatineau side of the Ottawa River will be temporarily closed for construction. The City of Gatineau will place barriers on the North end of the bridge pathway, so there will be no access for users to the bridge wishing to enter from the Gatineau side or exit from the Ottawa side. The bridge entrance on the Ottawa side (south end) will remain open during construction, however users will need to turn around at the north end and return to the Ottawa side via the south bridge. Signage will be installed on both sides of the bridge, indicating that the north end of the bridge is closed, and there will be no access to the Voyageurs Pathway.

This construction work will see modifications and enhancements to the transition from the Voyageurs Pathway to the bridge pathway, designed to improve ease of use.

Northern access will be reinstated on Saturday, May 18.
