Hi,

I like to ask 3 questions:

(1) Am I too late to apply for EI 16 days after I left the company ?

(2) How fast can I get my first benefit payment after I submit my claim ?

(3)After I left the company, the company still pays me severance pay and vacation pay for a few weeks. Will this affect my EI benefit ?

(1) You need to go to HRDC local office ASAP, I cannot overemphasize this.
(2) It depends on you severance pay and vacation pay you receive, but you need not worry about it as HRDC will send you a final form telling you when you will start to receive EI.

It wouldn't affect how much you can get from EI, but you mightn't receive EI benefit right away, up to how many month of severance pay you got. For example, if your company paid you six months package, your EI will start six months later.
