The flags at Ottawa City Hall (110 Laurier Avenue West) will be lowered to half-mast from sunrise to sunset on Friday, July 26 in honour of the late Kenneth Sidney Vowles, who passed away on Monday, July 15.
Ken Vowles was a member of the Royal Air Force, Royal Canadian Air Force and Canadian Forces Military Police. After serving in the Canadian Armed Forces for over 15 years, he became a successful salesman, and later, an influential politician. He was a councillor for the former City of Gloucester, representing the residents of Ward G5 Orléans South from 1997 to 2000. As a councillor, he was a member of the Ad Hoc Grants Committee, Gloucester Recreation Advisory Committee, Social Services Advisory Committee, Gloucester Cycling Advisory Committee and Community Recreation and Parks Board. He was also a well-known author, commentator, and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Ken Vowles’ funeral service is scheduled for Friday, July 26.
