How often do drivers run red lights?

Too often. Here are examples of blatant red-light violations at different intersections. The data was recorded during a five-hour period and applies to only one direction:

Albert Street & Kent Streets (northbound)
Carling Avenue & Richmond Road (westbound)
Coventry/Ogilvie Road & St. Laurent Boulevard (northbound)
Heron Road & Riverside Drive (eastbound)
37 violations
29 violations
78 violations
55 violations


They counted 199 violations at 4 spots in a 5-hrs period.

By adding 30 more cameras, it's safe to assume that they may catch 3000-4000 violations daily citywide for a few days at least. If each vehicle gets a fine of $180, that's 3/4 a million a day.
