Residents are reminded interim property tax payments and Vacant Unit Tax (VUT) declarations share the same deadline – Thursday, March 20.
For late payment on the interim property tax, a penalty charge of 1.25 per cent is added on the day following the March 20 due date, and it will be subsequently added to the outstanding amount on the first day of each month. Late VUT declarations are subject to a $250 late fee added to the final tax bill.

Completing Vacant Unit Tax declarations
Residential property owners can complete the Vacant Unit Tax declaration easily online through MySeviceOttawa from your property tax account. If you do not have an account, you can sign up using your roll number and access code, which can be found on either the information notice sent by email or to your home, or your property tax bill. Declarations can also be made at ottawa.ca/vut or by one of the alternate and accessible options below.
