The Longest Ballot Committee says the 56 candidates in Carleton have surpassed the 40 candidates in Mississauga-Lakeshore in 2022 and 48 candidates in Winnipeg South Centre for third place on the list for Canada’s longest ballots.

The record for longest ballot in Canadian history was 91 candidates in the Sept. 16 federal byelection in LaSalle—Émard—Verd, with 79 linked to the Longest Ballot Committee. A byelection last June in the riding of Toronto-St. Paul had 84 candidates.
