The K-8 Karakorum jet trainer was first unveiled internationally in the early 1990s, following its maiden flight on November 21, 1990. However, its international rollout gained momentum after it entered service with the Pakistan Air Force and the People's Liberation Army Air Force in 1994. The aircraft has since been exported to numerous countries, including Egypt, Ghana, Myanmar, Namibia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tanzania, Venezuela, Zambia, and Zimbabwe ¹ ².
