On our journeys around the city, either for pleasure or just heading to work or an appointment, we pass by so many interesting, historical or iconic buildings. Not very often do we actually get a glimpse of what lies beyond their doors. What does it look like inside and what happens in the building? Well, this weekend is Doors Open 2025 – Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8. It’s your chance to open the door and take a peek inside, to answer your questions and satisfy your curiosity.

Here are some of the buildings and facilities featured this year:






Ottawa Paramedic Service Headquarters

Ottawa Paramedic Service Headquarters


Ottawa Paramedic Service Headquarters is participating for the first time in Doors Open. Visitors will get to see a wide range of emergency vehicles including ambulances, a paramedic bus, ATV ambulances, special response units and a behind-the-scenes look at the Nation Capital Paramedic Service.




Trim Road Station

Trim Road Station


Ever wonder what it’s like inside one of the new O-Train East Extension stations? Now’s your chance. Join OC Transpo at Trim Station on June 8 from 10 am to 4 pm. You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at the station, meet the team behind the project, and get a feel for what transit will look like in your east-end community.

University of Ottawa Press


The University of Ottawa Press | Presses de l'Université d'Ottawa is also making its first Doors Open appearance. It is the oldest French-language university press in Canada and it’s also the largest publishing house in the National Capital Region.




Royal Canadian Mint

Royal Canadian Mint


The Royal Canadian Mint is back in Doors Open for the first time since 2018. The building is the headquarters for Royal Canadian Mint. It has occupied this building since it was founded in 1908. Today, Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa produces world-renowned collector coins, gold and silver bullion, and medals and medallions that awarded to honour those individuals who have made a significant impact on our nation.

Open Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm, no registration required.


Bank of Canada

Bank of Canada


The Bank of Canada makes a return to Doors Open. Canada’s central bank is celebrating its 90th anniversary. The Bank of Canada head office is a unique architectural gem – combining modern and classical styles.

The original granite building at 234 Wellington Street opened in 1938. In later years, the building was partially enclosed by two modern glass office towers.

Registration is required.


Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada

Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada


The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada is not new to Doors Open, offering virtual tours. But this year, it will be allowing in-person visits. The building was originally a convent for a cloistered order of nuns, the Sisters Adorers of the Precious Blood, from 1921 to 1991. The sisters devoted six or more hours a day to prayer. After the building was sold, the remaining sisters were moved to another convent near Quebec City.

The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada will be open Saturday, June 7, from 10 am to 4 pm, for self-guided tours. No registration required.


Nepean Sailing Club

Nepean Sailing Club


The Nepean Sailing Club, with more than 1,700 members, ranks high amongst Canada's biggest sailing and boating clubs. For its forty-five-year history, it has been a primary host for many important aquatic events and national regattas.

Cumberland Heritage Village Museum


The Cumberland Heritage Museum is an historic village, just a 30-minute drive from downtown Ottawa. it allows visitors to travel back to the life in the 1920s and 30s. On Saturday, June 7, it’s the Annual Fire Fighter Day at the museum, presenting a day of family-friendly fun.
