The City of Ottawa is conducting public consultations on three separate commemorative naming proposals to:
The City has been asked to name a new park in the Stinson Place development “Edmund Stinson Park” to recognize the historic contributions of the Stinson family. Over a century ago, Edmund Stinson purchased the land where the community now sits. The family supported the area through the Horticultural Society, livestock sales, dairy distribution, and church activities, earning a reputation for dedication and community spirit. Uniform Developments Inc. proposes the commemorative naming for the park and streets to honour Edmund Stinson and his family’s legacy.
To recognize her leadership in promoting equality and community cohesion, the City has been asked to rename Rideauview Park at 910 Eiffel Avenue to “Barbara Carroll Park.” For nearly 30 years, Barbara Carroll has led key community initiatives through the Debra Dynes Family House and as Chair of the Coalition of Community Houses. Her support for marginalized youth, women fleeing violence, and people experiencing homelessness has earned her several honours, including the City of Ottawa Certificate of Appreciation and the Defender of Public Good Award.
The City has been asked to rename Green Jacket Park at 1017 Green Jacket Crescent to “Devon Anthony Haye Park,” to honour Devon’s outstanding achievements that brought recognition to Ottawa, Ontario, and Canada. Devon Haye was a talented young man who passed away from cancer at 22. He excelled academically and professionally, volunteered in South Africa as a Social Impact Consultant, and created a sustainable, low‑cost food production model for remote and Indigenous communities. The Devon Haye Foundation, founded in 2021, continues his legacy through scholarships at St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School and the Ottawa Catholic School Board.
