Primary Role Title: Technology Architect

Essential Functions:
A Senior Technical Architect is needed for the design, development and implementation phases of a large scale, Multi Media, Digital Asset Management/Storage Area Network (DAM/SAN)system for a major government department. The Senior Technical Architect must be able to : Design a solution and develop the Technical Blueprints, Detailed Systems Designs,and supporting documents which are of a high quality and meet professional standards for a state-of-the-art, large scale DAM/SAN system. Manage a Technical team for the design, testing and implementation phases of a complex project plan in a highly professional manner. Coordinate the work of a variety of professional resources from multiple CSC groups and sub contractors. Monitor project progress against detailed plans and work breakdown structures and manage customer expectation. Work with the client Project Authority and CSC senior management for successful implementation of the technical solution. Establish a good rapport with senior management and executives of the client.
Essential Knowledge:
The Senior Technical Architect must be able to: Analyze current technologies, based on a comprehensive knowledge of DAM/SAN technologies, to identify best-of-breed storage/retrieval systems for audio/video material on a large scale. Coordinate and manage the technical work of a multi-vendor team comprising Architects, System Engineers, and Systems Analysts in the design, development and implementation of large scale digital asset storage and retrieval systems Provide sales and marketing support within Government IT environments Design,develop and be technically responsive for a project according to Canadian Federal Government IT operational and contractual processes
Essential Education:
University degree or equivalent experience
Essential Skills:
The Senior Technical Architect will have demonstrated : Superior analytical ability for complex technical problems and the ability to formulate appropriate solutions. At least, five years Technical Architect experience with several large government IT projects valued at more than $5 million each. A minimum of ten years experience with diversified IT project environments with resources belonging to multiple vendors and client staff. A broad knowledge base of Information Technology. A high level of knowledge and experience with projects in Digital Asset Management and/or Storage Area Networks. Ability to manage a variety of technical resources in successfully implementing the design, testing, and installation of a DAM/SAN system. Bilingualism would be a definite asset .
Organizational "Fit" Considerations:
Able to work in a large government environment with varied user groups (operational environments and associated administrative support elements). Able to work long hours as required. Unrestricted ability to travel.
