Final Report:
1. Introduction
To thank for all you guys who have kindly provided the advice or help, I decided to write a brief report, hoping this will benefit others who may have or will have the same kind of problem that I have.
2. Possible Solutions:
To solve this problem, I called the closest garage(2342660), which is only 100 meters away. Originally they said they will fix it for 15$/tire, but after I told them I have two flat tires and I can not move my car, they asked me $50 more on top of 15$/tire, saying the weather is so cold and the job will be too hard, I said with 50$ I could even bring a tow truck, they said with 2 flat tires, the towing fee would be more than $70, so they only charge me $50 and save me $20. This is OUTRAGEOUS!!! By then I have decided not to go there no matter what!
I have summaried the solutions to my problem and the cost as follows:
a. rent an air compressor from Home Depot, 21$ for 4 hours and $30 for 24 urs.
b. by an air compressor from Home Depot, 70$ for a portable one and $150+ for a big one.
c. tow my car away for $50+
d. join CAA(78$ annaual membership fee) and wait for 48 hours to tow my car for free
e. join CAA(78$ annaual membership fee) and tow my car right away for $35.
f. take the two flat tires down myself and send it for fixing
3. Conclusion:
Finally I chose d, and I got a parking ticket for $50 which I think would be cancled or deduced if I go to the court and show my CAA receipt.
The fact prooved that my decision was right, because the two tires were slashed seriously and not repairable.
There are many choices available for the garage that is close to me.
a. Canadian tire
b. Midas
c. Good Year
d. Unico
e. Costco
finally I chose a. I was not able to get a quote from e because I can't get their phone number.
The fact prooved that I was right. I went to Canadian tire at Richmond Road. They are not as busy as the other Canadian tire stores and I got a quick replacement of my tires for $20 labour and $120 parts, not a bad deal.
I only regret that I did not buy a Mechilon tire after I know I can spend 6$/tire for a life time warranty. This means if for any reason they can't fix your tire, you will get a new one of the same brand for free. One trival thing that is worth to be mentioned is that they were trying to ask me pay for recycling of the old tires (3$/tire), you don't need to pay for this. Just ask them to take that away from your bill.
4. Who is the culprit?
I would write this section in Chinese because of the obvious reason.
