Centretown Community Health Centre, a not-for-profit,
health and social service organization requires:
Regular Part-Time (17.5 hrs/week) Multicultural
Community Developer
The Multicultural Community Developer is responsible
for working with community members from a variety of
cultural groups in the CCHC catchment area on issues
that affect their health and well being. These issues
include determinants of health such as social
isolation and poverty. The Multicultural Community
Developer works with the community to identify needs
and capacities, develop strategies and implement
action. Strategies include community organizing,
community networking, building community networks,
coalition-building and political lobbying.
Requirements:
・ Bachelor's degree in health or social science, or
equivalent qualifications and experience.
・ Minimum of three (3) years experience in community
development.
・ Demonstrated working knowledge of community
development including an understanding of the
interactive relationship of the personal and the
socio-political determinants of health.
・ Experience working with people from a variety of
cultural backgrounds.
・ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
with specific expertise in group facilitation.
・ Experience in political lobbying and advocacy.
・ Ability to work well independently and as part of a
multi-disciplinary team.
・ Experience working with a variety of community
issues, e.g. racism, poverty, homelessness, community
safety, etc.
・ Proficient with Windows based computer systems, MS
Word, e-mail and databases
・ Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
・ Excellent written and verbal communication skills in
English.
・ Ability to communicate in other languages will be
considered an asset.
Start date: April 5, 2004
Salary range: $21.65/hr to $26.95/hr (under review)

The Coordinator of Volunteers is responsible for the
implementation of CCHC's volunteer program which
includes: the recruitment, screening, training and
ongoing support of volunteers. He/she is also
responsible for responding to requests from staff and
members of the community concerning voluntarism.
Requirements:
・ Post secondary certification in voluntarism or
equivalent combination of training experience.
・ Minimum of three (3) years experience supervising
and working with volunteers.
・ Experience in a health or social services setting.
・ Strong interpersonal, communication, teamwork and
organizational skills.
・ Proficient with Windows based computer systems, MS
Word, e-mail and databases.
・ Excellent verbal communication skills in English and
French as well as excellent writing skills in English.
・ Experience using desktop publishing software will be
considered an asset.
・ Skills and experience in group facilitation and
leadership training will be considered an asset.
・ Written communication skills in French will b
