<HTML>Does anyone know about the detailed regulations? Please help, thanks!</HTML>

<HTML>Not after 17 weeks pregnancy</HTML>

<HTML>Are you sure it is ok within the first 17 weeks? Another thing is if they do that, I mean layoff in the first 17 weeks, do they need to pay special compensation ...?

Where can I find the official regulations?

Thanks a lot!</HTML>

<HTML>I've seen a woman laid off by Cisco in Ottawa when her belly is really really big.</HTML>

<HTML>call a lawyer</HTML>

<HTML>If lay off, nobody can help you.
I have called some kind organization as human rights ask for the question, they said they can do nothing if lay off, for example Nortel case, you are not the only one who have the problem, so just go home and ask for your maternity leave and parental leave.
Only if you have already applied maternity or parental leave or you are taking maternity or parental leave, the employeer can't lay off you during that period.</HTML>

<HTML>You have to check with a lawyer to figure out the exact details. I think I heard somewhere that it's against the law to lay off women after 17 week pregnancy. However, before that, it will be just layoff as everybody else, same compensation. If you are eligible for EI, the EI will be a little bit different. You have to check with HRDC though.</HTML>

<HTML>the point is that u can not be laid off / fired because of pregenacy. but for other reasons. it is legal.</HTML>

Sure. They can without penalty.

<HTML>Can you kill anybody without penalty?

Yes, you can. The dead is Ben Landen or his accomplice.

Employer can easily find an execuse.</HTML>

Re: Don't mess up, guys

<HTML>Lay off does nothing with you are male or female, pregenacy or not. Only when you are the only one got laid off/fire in your company, you have right to claim and ask for compensation. That's why the HRDC and the other government or organization said they couldn't help in Nortel case.
However good luck!</HTML>
